About this worksheet
This monster truck has a face built right into its front end: two big round eyes with raised eyebrows sit above the windscreen, and the grille below has been turned into a wide, gap-toothed grin, with the two headlights doubling as rosy cheeks. Behind that friendly face is a chunky pickup body with a single side window, a small door mirror, and a low running board along the side. The truck sits up on four oversized tyres with thick chevron tread and a ringed hubcap in the centre of each one, held up on visible coil-spring suspension. All four wheels rest on top of a single rounded mound, like it has just climbed up and stopped to pose.
What makes this one worth printing is the mix of shapes on offer. The tyres and the mound are big, open spaces a three-year-old can scrub across with one colour and not worry about staying inside a tiny line. The face is the opposite: small enclosed bits, eyes, grin, headlights, that reward a bit more care with a finer tip. There's also a natural conversation in it: ask which colour the truck should be, whether the tyres should match the body, or what colour a monster truck's grin should be.
