About this worksheet
This sailboat has a face right on its hull, two round eyes, two curved eyebrows and a smiling mouth, so it feels more like a friendly character than a vehicle. Above the hull stands a tall, straight mast holding up two triangle sails, a smaller one on the left and a much bigger one on the right, plus a little curled flag flapping at the very top. Underneath, the boat sits on two gently wavy lines that stand in for the sea, with plenty of blank paper around them.
Nearly every shape here is large and open, so a child can colour the sails and hull in broad strokes without worrying about staying inside tight lines. The two sail triangles are a natural spot to try two different colours, and the mast is thin enough to be a nice small challenge in between the wide open spaces. The face gives a young child something to talk about while they work, like what colour the boat is and whether it looks happy to be out on the water.
