About this worksheet
This page draws a tiny house built into a mushroom. The domed cap sits on top with gill lines fanning out underneath it, and the thick stem below is shaped into a house with two round windows, each split into four panes like a little cross, and a tall arched door made of vertical slats with a round doorknob. To the left stands one big layered flower on a stem with two leaves, and along the ground three oval stepping stones curve away from the doorstep as if leading off into the rest of the garden.
The cap and the stem body are the two areas a child will reach for first: big, rounded, and forgiving of wobbly crayon strokes, so there is an easy win before they get to anything smaller. The windows and the door slats are where the page slows down, since the crayon has to stay inside narrower, curved sections without losing the shape. The gill lines under the cap and the flower's petals give a natural excuse to switch colours often, which keeps interest up once the big shapes are filled. It is a picture that invites a chat too: who lives here, where do the stepping stones go, is the door open or shut.
Compared with other fairy sheets in this set, this one sits in the middle. It is not as bare as a page built from one big shape, but nothing on it is fiddly either, so a child who can already stay inside a wide outline should manage it without much help. It suits a first sitting-down colouring session of the day, or a calmer page after something with a lot more detail.
How to use this sheet
Start with the mushroom cap and house body, the biggest shapes, before moving to the windows and door slats. If the door slats feel too fiddly, one colour for the whole door is fine. Ask your child where the stepping stones lead.
