Insects & Little Bugs coloring pages for 5 year olds

Eight insects & little bugs coloring pages pitched at 5 year olds, free to print with no account and no watermark. Every one is an easy sheet: big shapes, thick lines and room to be inaccurate.

Small creatures children spot in the yard or on a walk: butterflies resting on flowers, a fat caterpillar mid-crawl, a spotted ladybug, a dragonfly with patterned wings, and a busy line of ants.

They assume a child who writes most uppercase and many lowercase letters, which is typical at five. If that is not there yet, the age 4 sheets are the better place to start.

Sheets in this set include Grasshopper Coloring Page, Spider on a Web Coloring Page and Waving Ant Coloring Page. Each is one page on A4, laid out with margins wide enough that nothing is lost printing on US Letter.

Sessions of ten to fifteen minutes work better than one long sitting. Plain printer paper is fine for crayons; put scrap paper underneath if markers bleed through.

What most 5 year olds can do

  • •Writes most uppercase and many lowercase letters
  • •Identifies beginning sounds in spoken words
  • •Adds and subtracts small quantities using pictures
  • •Completes and extends simple repeating patterns

Averages, not targets. Children vary enormously at this age.
