About this worksheet
This sheet shows a bus head-on, filling almost the whole page. Behind the huge curved windscreen sits the driver, cap on, tie neatly drawn, one hand raised in a wave and the other resting on the steering wheel. Down the side of the bus are three windows of different sizes, a door with its own little window, two round headlights up front and a pair of big wheels below. Every shape is drawn well apart from the next, so nothing is fiddly to reach.
What makes this one worth printing is the size of the spaces. The bus body, the windscreen, the wheels and the door are all large enough for a preschooler to colour with a fat crayon and not stray outside the lines every time. The driver's face and cap are the only small bits, so there is a bit of everything here: broad panels for confident scribbling and a couple of smaller shapes if your child wants to slow down and be careful. It is also an easy one to talk about while colouring, since the driver is mid-wave, as if saying hello to the children getting on.
This is on the easier end of the sheets in our Community Helpers set, thanks to the thick outlines and the lack of any tiny background detail. It suits younger colourers who are still building control, and it works just as well as a quick page for an older child who wants to finish something in one sitting.
How to use this sheet
Let your child start with the big bus body first, since a fat crayon glides through it easily, then move to the driver's cap and face last, where a thinner crayon or pencil helps with the smaller shapes.
