About this worksheet
This page shows one starfish, drawn front-on with its five wavy arms stretched out to fill the whole sheet. Its face sits in the middle: two large oval eyes with a small white highlight in each, and a wide curved smile underneath. Three plain circles are scattered across the arms, one near the top point and one on each of the two lower arms. Everything else, the arms themselves, is open space bordered by a thick, simple line.
Because the arms are so broad, there is plenty of room for a young child to colour without worrying about staying inside a tight edge. The spots are the only small shapes on the page, and there are just three of them, spaced well apart, so a child can treat them as an easy add-on rather than a challenge. The face invites a bit of chat too: ask what colour starfish they think this one is, or why it is smiling.
This is a straightforward, low-stress sheet, one of the easiest in the ocean set. The wide arms suit a two or three year old still getting used to holding a crayon, while the three separate spots give a four or five year old just enough detail to keep them interested a little longer.
How to use this sheet
Let your child start with the biggest arm first to build confidence, then save the three spots for last since they're the fiddliest part. If a crayon slips over a line, it will barely show, so there's no need to correct it.
