About this worksheet
This dump truck has a face right on the front of its cab: two round eyes and a curved smiling mouth, sitting above a wide front bumper. Behind the windscreen and side window sits an open tipper bed carrying three big rounded rocks, stacked so they peek over the top rail. A short roof bar sits above the cab like a sun visor, and four wheels carry the whole truck, each with a plain circle for a hubcap. Thin ribbed lines run down the side of the tipper bed, but that is about as detailed as this drawing gets.
Almost everything here is a large, closed shape: the cab, the bumper, the tipper bed, and each of the three rocks give a child plenty of room to colour without needing to stay inside anything fiddly. The wheels and hubcaps are the only small spots that call for a steadier hand, which makes them a good moment to slow down and pick a different colour. It is an easy drawing to talk through while colouring, too, since a child can point out the truck's face, count the rocks, or decide what colour a dump truck ought to be.
There is very little fine detail here, so this page suits younger colourists or anyone who wants a quick, low-pressure sheet to finish in one sitting. It is a fine choice for a first attempt at colouring inside the lines, or for a child who gets frustrated by pictures with lots of small parts.
How to use this sheet
Start with the cab and bumper, the biggest spaces, before moving to the smaller hubcaps. If your child wastes an early attempt on a hubcap, let it go and move to the rocks instead. Ask them to count the three rocks and pick a different colour for each.
