Smiling Waterfall Colouring Page

This waterfall has a face. Right at the top of the rounded cliff, two eyes and a wide open smile look out from between the rocks, and two broad streams of water pour down from either side of that smile, all the way to a pool at the bottom. The pool has a scalloped, bubbly edge where the water lands, with three small droplet shapes floating just above it. On each side of the pool stands a cluster of three pointed leaves, and along the bottom sit four rounded rocks of different sizes, tucked into an oval basin that holds it all together.

The two water streams are wide and empty, so a child can run a crayon top to bottom without worrying about staying inside tight lines, and the rock formation on either side is built from big rounded bumps that colour just as easily. The smaller pieces, like the three droplets, the leaf clusters and the row of bottom rocks, give a child a reason to slow down and pick a second or third colour, or to swap blue for green and talk about which rock is biggest. The face is the natural place to start and the part most likely to get pointed at and laughed about once it is coloured in.

There is nothing fiddly here and no small enclosed patches to fight with, so this suits a younger colourer who wants to fill a whole page without much fuss, while the handful of smaller shapes give slightly older preschoolers something to pay closer attention to. It sits on the easy end of the waterfall sheets in this set, good for a quick sit-down at the table rather than a long project.
