About this worksheet
A color-recognition page built around one idea: red is not just a word, it is a property of real things. The page shows four outlined pictures — a apple, ladybug, strawberry and a fire truck — and the only job is to color them red.
Red is usually the first color children name reliably, which makes it the right place to start. Naming the color while coloring is what moves it into memory, so ask "what color are you using?" once or twice as they work.
One color per page is deliberate. A page of mixed colors tests sorting; this page builds the single association first, and its sibling pages cover the other colors one by one before the review sheet mixes them.
How to use this sheet
Put out several crayons, not just the right one — choosing the correct crayon unprompted is the actual test of the skill.
