What your child practises

  • Matches identical shapes across a distance
  • Draws long, controlled lines between two targets
  • Tracks visually without losing their place
  • Works methodically through a five-item task

About this worksheet

Two columns of five shapes, deliberately shuffled so the connecting lines cross. Your child draws a line from each shape on the left to its twin on the right.

Drawing a long, controlled line across a page is a real pre-writing skill in itself — quite separate from the matching. Crossing lines also force the child to track carefully rather than simply joining the nearest pair, which is what makes a shuffled column better practice than an aligned one.

Small orange dots mark where each line should start and finish, giving a clear target at both ends.

How to use this sheet

If the crossing lines get confusing, cover the rows already done with a sheet of paper and work down one at a time.
