Snowman with Mittens Colouring Page

This snowman stands with both mitten hands raised up in a wave, a pom-pom hat pulled down over his round head, and a long scarf knotted at his neck with one striped end hanging past his middle. His face is simple: two dot eyes, a curving smile, and a long pointed carrot nose. Down the front of his body sit three round buttons, and scattered across the ground around his feet are four little oval patches of snow.

Everything here is a big, closed shape, which is exactly what makes it good for a child who is still learning to keep colour inside the lines. The head, the two body circles, and the mittens are all wide open spaces a small hand can fill in a few confident strokes without much steering. The buttons, the eyes, and the scarf stripes are smaller and give a bit of practice working inside a tighter boundary, but there's nothing fiddly enough to cause real frustration. It's also a nice one for choosing a colour scheme together, a red scarf, a blue hat, orange for the nose, since none of it has to match anything in real life.

This is an easy sheet, best suited to first attempts at a winter picture rather than a challenge for an older colourer. Twos and threes can manage the big body and head on their own, while four and five year olds will likely finish the whole page, buttons and snow patches included, in one sitting.
