Autumn Leaf Coloring Page

This page has one big maple leaf filling the paper, drawn with a happy face right in the middle: two oval eyes and a curved smile. The leaf has five points altogether. The top point is a tall spike, there is a spike on each side, and the two lower side points curl inward into small spiral tips instead of ending sharply. A straight vein runs from the top point down to the stem, with two curved veins branching off it toward the bottom lobes. A single plain stem hangs below.

The leaf body is one wide, open shape, so a child can color most of it in a couple of big sweeps without worrying about staying inside tiny lines. The two curled spiral tips are the only fiddly bits, and they are a nice place to try a second color or a different crayon just for those two little coils. The face gives you something to talk about while coloring: is the leaf happy because it is autumn, what color would a real leaf like this turn.

This is an easy sheet. The outlines are bold and there is nothing cramped or overlapping, so it works well for a child who is still learning to keep color inside the lines, or for a quick page before dinner. Older preschoolers who want more of a challenge can use the veins to separate the leaf into sections and give each one its own shade.
