About this worksheet
This pumpkin fills most of the page, its body carved by curved lines into five tall, rounded lobes running from top to bottom. A short stem pokes up at an angle with a single pointed leaf beside it. The face sits in the middle lobe: two large oval eyes, already coloured in solid black with a small white highlight dot in each, above a wide open smile drawn as a simple curved band.
Because the eyes are already filled in, there is nothing fiddly for small hands here. The job is the five lobes, the stem and the leaf, and every one of those is a big, simple, curved shape with plenty of room either side of the line. A child can pick a different shade for each lobe and turn the pumpkin into stripes, or keep it all one orange and just enjoy filling a large space. The stem and leaf are small enough to ask "what colour should the stem be" and get an actual choice back, rather than a shrug. The open mouth is left blank too, so there's a small decision to make about whether it stays white or gets a colour of its own.
This is one of the easier sheets in the vegetables set: no tiny enclosed sections, no fine detail to stay inside of, just five long curves and two small extras. It suits a child who is still working on not crossing lines with a wide stroke, and it is a quick one to finish in a single sitting, which is handy on a day when patience is short.
How to use this sheet
Start with the middle lobe since it's already framed by the face, then work outward to the other four. The eyes are pre-filled, so there's no need to colour those. Let your child choose whether the mouth stays white or gets a colour.
