Count and Match: 6 to 10

The numbers 6 to 10 run down the left side of the page in big bold boxes. Down the right side are five boxes of pictures in mixed-up order: six pears, seven snails, eight starfish, nine bumblebees and ten striped socks. Your child counts each group and draws a line from the number to the box with that many.

Each group is laid out in rows of five, with a full row on top and the extra pictures underneath. Seeing eight as "five and three more" helps a child keep track when counting past five, and it starts to build a sense of how the bigger numbers are put together.

Count the top row together, then carry on along the bottom row: "Five, six, seven, eight." Ask your child to say the last number again before looking for it on the left.
