About this worksheet
This Spinosaurus stands side-on with a big curved neck, a round smile and one large friendly eye topped by an eyebrow line. Its trademark sail rises from its back, crossed by rib lines that split it into narrow panels. Two small front arms with clawed hands rest near its chest, while two sturdy back legs with clawed feet plant it firmly on the ground, and a long tail sweeps behind before curling up at the tip.
The body, neck and legs are all big open spaces, so a child can colour most of the dinosaur with broad strokes and no real risk of going over a line. The sail is the trickier part: those rib panels are narrow, so filling each one without crossing into the next takes a slower hand and a bit more concentration. It is a nice page for switching colours often, since nothing says a Spinosaurus has to be one shade all over.
Between the large easy body and the fiddlier sail strips, this sheet sits at an easy-to-moderate level. Younger children can happily colour the body and legs and leave the sail one plain colour, while older preschoolers who like a challenge can take on each panel separately.
How to use this sheet
Let your child colour the big body and legs first, then move to the sail last, since those narrow rib panels need the steadiest hand. If a panel gets messy, colour over it in a darker shade rather than starting again.
