Waving Brown Bear Colouring Page

This bear stands upright on two legs, facing forward with a big round head and small rounded ears. One front paw is raised in a wave, all four paw pads showing, while the other arm hangs down at his side. He has an oval tummy patch in the middle of his body, two dot eyes, a black nose and a curved smiling mouth. Beside his feet sits a plain tree stump with rings on top, the only other object on the page.

Most of this bear is made up of large, simple shapes: the head, the body, the tummy oval, the two legs. A child can fill those in with big crayon strokes and stay inside the lines without much trouble. The paw pads, ears and stump rings are smaller and give a bit more to concentrate on if they want a change of pace, but nothing on the page is fiddly enough to cause frustration. It also gives a parent an easy way in, such as asking what colour bear they want, or what he might be waving at.

This is an easy sheet, suited to the younger end of preschool as a first go at colouring a standing animal, and just as fine for an older child who wants something relaxed to finish quickly. There is no scene to plan out and no small background details to fill, so it works well as a calm five minute activity rather than a big sit down project.
