Caterpillar on a Leaf Colouring Page

This caterpillar has a round head with two antennae topped with little balls, two big eyes, and an open smile. Behind the head come five large rounded body segments, each one its own bubble shape, getting slightly smaller towards the tail. Underneath, three small oval feet poke out along the bottom edge. The whole caterpillar rests on one broad leaf that curls up at both ends, with a single curved vein running down its middle and a short stalk twisting off to one side.

Nearly every shape here is big and open, so a child can fill a whole body segment or the entire leaf in a few crayon strokes without worrying about staying inside tight lines. The five humps are separate from each other, which makes them a natural spot to try out five different colours in a row, or to repeat one colour and count them out loud. The tiny feet and the antenna tips are the only fiddly bits, and they are small enough to skip without spoiling the picture. It is an easy one to talk through while colouring: how many humps, is the caterpillar happy, what colour should the leaf be.
