Insects & Little Bugs worksheets for 3 year olds

19 insects & little bugs worksheets pitched at 3 year olds, free to print with no account and no watermark. Every one is an easy sheet: big shapes, thick lines and room to be inaccurate.

The subjects range from simple, large-shaped outlines suited to a child still learning to hold a crayon steady, through to pages with more segments and detail, like the dragonfly's wings or the caterpillar's many legs, for a child ready to work more slowly and carefully.

They assume a child who copies vertical, horizontal and circular strokes, which is typical at three. If that is not there yet, the age 2 sheets are the better place to start.

Sheets in this set include Dancing Grasshopper Colouring Page, Cricket On A Leaf Colouring Page and Grasshopper Colouring Page. Each is one page on A4, laid out with margins wide enough that nothing is lost printing on US Letter.

Five to ten minutes at a time is plenty at this age, and going outside the lines is the expected outcome rather than a mistake. Print in greyscale to save ink, or slide the sheet into a plastic pocket and hand over a dry-wipe marker so the same page lasts a month.

What most 3 year olds can do

  • Copies vertical, horizontal and circular strokes
  • Counts objects up to five with one-to-one pointing
  • Sorts confidently by a single attribute like colour
  • Begins to recognise the letters in their own name

Averages, not targets. Children vary enormously at this age.
