About this worksheet
This page shows one big, friendly carrot standing on its pointed tip, with a face made of two round solid eyes, curved eyebrows and a small smile. Five broad leaves fan out from the top of the carrot, each with a single vein line running down the middle. One arm is raised in a wave, fingers spread wide, while the other hangs down by its side with fingers spread too. A handful of short curved lines cross the body, marking the ridges of the carrot.
The carrot itself is one long, unbroken shape, so a child can use big, sweeping strokes without worrying about staying inside tiny lines. The five leaves are smaller and sit apart from one another, which makes a good next step once the body is filled in, since each one asks for a bit more care to stay inside its own outline. The face and hands are simple enough to talk through together while colouring: ask which hand is waving, count the leaves at the top, or decide what colour a happy carrot should wear.
With its thick outlines and only a few small details, this is an easy sheet, well suited to the youngest colourists, including two and three year olds who are still learning to hold a crayon steadily. Older preschoolers can move through it quickly and might enjoy adding their own extra lines to the carrot body once the main colouring is done.
How to use this sheet
Start with the five leaves since they're smaller and separate, then move to the big carrot body last so the largest space is the final, easiest win. If crayon strays past the thick outline, let it be. Ask which hand is waving hello.
