About this worksheet
The straight horizontal line is where handwriting starts. Before a child can form a letter they need to be able to move a pencil in a controlled direction and stop where they intend to.
Each of the six rows begins with a filled orange dot and ends with a hollow one, so there is an unambiguous start and finish. Working left to right on every row also rehearses the directionality that reading and writing both depend on.
Do not worry about the line being wobbly or drifting off the dots. What you are looking for is that your child starts in the right place, moves in the right direction, and stops at the target.
How to use this sheet
Tape the page down at the corners if it slides. A child who has to hold the paper still with one hand has one hand fewer for controlling the pencil.
