What your child practices

  • Recognize the numerals 2, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10
  • Tell apart look-alike numerals such as 6 and 9
  • Scan a column to find a number's twin
  • Draw a line between two chosen dots

About this worksheet

Six big numbers, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10, sit in boxes down the left side, with the same numbers in a different order on the right. Your child finds each number's twin and joins the two dots with a line.

Before children can count out ten objects or write numbers, they need to tell one numeral from another. This page includes a pair that is easy to confuse, 6 and 9, and the two-digit number 10, so your child has to look at the whole shape, not just the first thing they notice.

If 6 and 9 get mixed up, trace both with a finger and notice where each loop sits, at the bottom for 6 and at the top for 9.

How to use this sheet

Say each number's name together before your child joins the dots. Point out that 10 is written with two digits, a 1 and a 0.
