About this worksheet
This mushroom house has a face: two big round eyes with black pupils and a curved smile sit above an arched front door with a single round doorknob. The dome-shaped cap forms the roof, and the stem underneath forms the walls of the house. Outside, a six-petalled flower with two leaves grows on the left, and a rounded bush sits on the right by the doorstep, with the whole scene resting on a simple curved hill line.
Nearly every shape here is large and closed off with a thick outline, which is exactly what makes it a good one for little hands. The cap alone is one broad sweep of colour, the eyes are big enough to fill without much wobble, and the door is a single clean arch. The only fiddly bit is the small doorknob circle, so it is a nice page for talking through "big parts first, small parts last" without much frustration along the way.
This is an easy sheet, simpler than most of the busier garden scenes in this category, since there is no shading, pattern or background clutter to manage.
