About this worksheet
This sea lion sits facing forward, propped up on two front flippers that rest flat on a single ice floe below. Its head is round with small whiskers fanning out on each side, two big oval eyes with tiny highlight dots, a small oval nose, and a wide open mouth showing its tongue. The body is one tall, smooth curve from neck to tail, and the ice floe underneath has a gently scalloped edge but no other background clutter.
There is barely anything fiddly here. The body is a single large space a child can fill in with one sweep of a crayon, and the ice floe is another big open shape below it. The only small parts are the eyes, nose and whiskers, so most of the page rewards big relaxed strokes rather than careful staying-in-the-lines work. It is an easy one to talk through too: ask what colour a sea lion should be, why the ice might be white or pale blue, and what those long whiskers are for.
This is one of the simplest sheets in the polar animals set, with almost nothing to trip up small hands. It suits a toddler colouring alone or a preschooler who wants to finish a whole page quickly and feel done. Older children looking for more of a challenge will find little to slow them down here.
How to use this sheet
Let your child start with the big body shape first, since it is the easiest part to colour well. Save the eyes, nose and whiskers for last, when their hand is warmed up and small mistakes there matter less.
