About this worksheet
Across, slant, across. The model Z numbers three starting points: the top left for the first bar, the top right where the long slant sets off down to the bottom left, and the bottom left again for the last bar.
Once it is familiar most children write Z without lifting the pencil, as one zigzag. Until then the slant is the stroke that goes astray. Sent toward the wrong corner it gives a backwards Z, which is another of the common reversals.
Say "zip, zag, zip". Zebra, zip and zoo begin with Z, and it is a satisfying last letter to finish the alphabet on.
How to use this sheet
Put a finger on the top right corner of the model and trace the slant down together a few times; that corner is where reversals begin. One-stroke Z's are fine once the direction is right.
