Alphabet & Letters worksheets for 3 year olds

Eight alphabet & letters worksheets pitched at 3 year olds, free to print with no account and no watermark. Most are straightforward, with four that step up for a child who is ready for more.

Letter recognition and formation, starting with capitals.

They assume a child who copies vertical, horizontal and circular strokes, which is typical at three. If that is not there yet, the age 2 sheets are the better place to start.

Sheets in this set include Trace Capital Letters M to R, Trace Capital Letters S to Z and Trace Capital Letters G to L. Each is one page on A4, laid out with margins wide enough that nothing is lost printing on US Letter.

Five to ten minutes at a time is plenty at this age, and going outside the lines is the expected outcome rather than a mistake. Print in grayscale to save ink, or slide the sheet into a plastic pocket and hand over a dry-wipe marker so the same page lasts a month.

What most 3 year olds can do

  • Copies vertical, horizontal and circular strokes
  • Counts objects up to five with one-to-one pointing
  • Sorts confidently by a single attribute like color
  • Begins to recognize the letters in their own name

Averages, not targets. Children vary enormously at this age.
