Count and Circle: Numbers 11 to 20

Each of the six boxes holds a group of eleven to twenty pictures: strawberries, ladybugs, cupcakes, rubber ducks, acorns and mushrooms. Below each group are three numbers. Your child counts the pictures and circles the number that says how many.

Counting past ten is harder than it looks. The child has to keep saying the number names in order past ten and remember which pictures they have already counted. The pictures sit in lines of five, so two full lines make ten. A child who notices that can count on from ten instead of starting again, which is an early step toward thinking in tens.

Circling an answer means your child doesn't have to write anything, so the page checks counting and numeral recognition without any handwriting. If a box goes wrong, count it together, touching each picture, and then let your child circle again.
