About this worksheet
Y has two strokes. The first starts at the top left, slants in to the middle, and then carries straight on down to the baseline without a lift. The second starts at the top right and slants in to join it. The model numbers both starting points.
Where the arms meet decides how the letter looks. Too high and it turns into a T with drooping arms; too low and it becomes a V on a short stick. The join belongs on the middle guide line.
Say "slide and drop, then slide in". Yo-yo, yak and yellow begin with Y. If the turn in the first stroke is hard, let your child pause at the middle before heading down.
How to use this sheet
Trace the big Y with a finger and stop at the join. Ask your child to find that spot on the middle guide line before writing each one.
