About this worksheet

Seven big capital letters sit in boxes down the page: A, D, B, E, C, F, and H. Next to each are three capital letters, and only one is exactly the same. Your child finds that letter and draws a circle around it.

The other letters in each row look a lot like the answer, such as E next to F, B next to D, or C next to G. To choose the right one, your child has to check for a missing line, a closed curve, or a small tail. Noticing small details like these helps children tell letters apart as they start learning to read.

Before your child starts on a row, say the boxed letter's name together. If they circle a look-alike, lay a finger on each letter and trace them slowly so they can feel which line or curve is different.

How to use this sheet

Let your child cover the rows below with a sheet of paper so they can focus on one row at a time. Once the page is done, ask them to name each letter they circled.
