About this worksheet

A proper maze, generated so that exactly one path connects the entrance to the exit, with several dead ends along the way to make the choice a real one.

Mazes work two skills at once. There is the thinking part — looking ahead, spotting a dead end before committing to it, backing up and trying again. And there is the physical part — keeping a pencil line inside a narrow corridor without touching the walls, which is genuinely demanding control for a four year old.

Six by six is a deliberate size. Large enough to require planning, small enough to finish in a couple of minutes before frustration sets in.

How to use this sheet

Tracing the route with a finger first is not cheating — it separates the thinking from the pencil control so neither one spoils the other.
