Help the Caterpillar Find the Apple — Level 2

A caterpillar moves one segment at a time, which is exactly how this maze wants to be solved — square by square rather than in glances across the page. At 49 squares it is one of the shorter routes at this level, so it suits a first attempt at a 10 by 10 grid.

Ten cells across puts the corridors a little over one and a half centimeters wide. Still wide enough for a pencil held in a whole-hand grip, but narrow enough that staying inside the lines is now part of the task rather than a given.

The way through runs 49 squares and turns 28 times, with 13 dead ends branching off it. The grid is carved so that exactly one route connects the start to the finish: no loops, no second way round, and no corner walled off from the rest. Every square can be reached, and a child who follows the route carefully will always get there.
