About this worksheet

The top of the ladder the level 1 sheet starts, and the sheet that closes it. Eighty-one squares, 55 changes of direction and 17 dead ends, on a grid of 144 cells. This is a sit-down-with-it page rather than a fill-a-gap one, and it is worth saying so before you print it: a child who has not finished a level 2 maze comfortably will find this one long rather than interesting.

The same fish and treasure chest as levels 1 and 2, now at the top of the ladder. Divers searching the sea floor often swim it in straight lanes so that nothing gets missed, and the same idea works here: a child who scans the maze strip by strip, top to bottom, will spot dead ends before the pencil ever reaches them.

There is exactly one way through: no loops, and no square cut off from the rest.

How to use this sheet

Save this one for a child who finished level 2 without much help. Before starting, split the page into four quarters with a finger and look at each one for places where the path stops. Laying all three finished fish sheets together at the end is its own reward.
