About this worksheet

Short route, plenty of forks. At 25 squares this is among the quickest ways through any sheet in the series, but 10 dead ends branch off it — more than most. The combination suits a child who tends to set off down the first opening they see: the page is not long enough to be tiring, and it punishes rushing often enough to be worth slowing down for.

This is a level 1 maze: 8 cells across, with corridors a shade under two centimeters wide. That is roomy enough that a five year old's pencil control is never the thing holding them up, so the page is purely about finding the way.

The way through runs 25 squares and turns 13 times, with 10 dead ends branching off it. The grid is carved so that exactly one route connects the start to the finish: no loops, no second way round, and no corner walled off from the rest. Every square can be reached, and a child who follows the route carefully will always get there.

How to use this sheet

Trace the route with a finger first, then go over it with a pencil. Separating the thinking from the pencil work means neither one spoils the other.
