About this worksheet

The middle rung, and the step where a maze stops being a quick win. The grid goes from 8 cells across to 10, which sounds small and is not: the route doubles from 27 squares to 55, and it changes direction 28 times on the way. Print level 1 first if you have not, then this one — the jump is the interesting part.

Real fish do not need a path: they can swim over, under and around almost anything on the sea floor. Ask your child why this fish has to stay inside the corridors, and let them explain the rules of a maze in their own words; children who can say a rule out loud follow it better. The picture is the same as level 1, so any difficulty they feel comes from the maze itself.

There is exactly one way through: no loops, and no square cut off from the rest.

How to use this sheet

Put the finished level 1 sheet beside this one before starting, so your child sees that the picture is the same and only the maze has grown. Expect the first attempt to wander. Tracing with a finger, then drawing, still works best here, and a short break halfway through is fine.
