About this worksheet

Monkey, banana: a pairing that needs no setting up, which is exactly what you want when the maze is meant to be the whole of the work. Nothing in the picture has to be interpreted, so all the effort goes into the route. At 29 squares with only 7 dead ends, this is a long walk down a mostly honest path.

Wild monkeys eat all sorts of things, from fruit and leaves to seeds and insects; the banana is mostly a zoo and cartoon favorite. Ask your child what else a monkey might like to eat. The maze itself is kind: the way through is long, but few side paths lead astray, so it builds confidence for the more forked pages at this level.

There is exactly one way through: no loops, and no square cut off from the rest.

How to use this sheet

Let your child do this one mostly alone; it is forgiving enough that they can succeed without hints. If they want a challenge, time the finger run, then the pencil run, and see which is quicker. Finish by coloring the banana yellow.
