A robot running low on charge is a goal with a clock on it, which is unusual in this series and useful for a child who needs a reason to keep going. Eighteen dead ends across 75 squares makes it one of the more forked level 3 pages.

Robots follow instructions one step at a time, which is also how a child can solve this maze: move, check, turn, check again. Some simple robots find their way through mazes by always keeping one side against a wall, a rule that works in any maze with a single way through, like this one. Ask your child to try it with a finger and see where it leads.

There is exactly one way through: no loops, and no square cut off from the rest.

How to use this sheet

Try the robot rule: keep a finger touching the right-hand wall and never let go. It will reach the battery in the end, though it wanders into dead ends on the way. Then solve it the thinking way and compare which was quicker.
