About this worksheet
U is one stroke: down the left side, a curve along the bottom, and straight back up the right side to the top line. The single numbered dot on the model is at the top left.
The curve at the bottom is what makes it a U. Pinched into a point it becomes a V, and when the second side stops short the letter leans. Capital U has no tail; that belongs to the lowercase one.
Tell your child to drive down, round the bend and back up without stopping the car. Umbrella, up and under begin with U.
How to use this sheet
If the bottom keeps coming out pointed, draw a small smile on the baseline for the curve to follow. Check that both sides finish at the same height.
