About this worksheet
Each row on this sheet works the same way: the shape is named, drawn once solidly as a model, then repeated twice in grey to trace, and finally there is an empty box to attempt it freehand.
That progression from copy to independent attempt is the useful part. Tracing alone lets a child follow a line without ever forming a mental picture of the shape; the empty box is where you find out whether the shape has actually landed.
Circles and squares usually come easily. Triangles are harder than they look, because the child has to plan three corners in advance, and stars are genuinely difficult before about age five โ treat the star row as a bonus rather than an expectation.
How to use this sheet
Say the shape name aloud together at the start of each row. If the freehand box is a struggle, hold their hand for the first attempt and let go for the second.
