About this worksheet
Four strokes make an E. The model shows where each one begins: the tall line first, then three bars drawn outward from it, top, middle and bottom. The middle bar is a little shorter than the other two.
Children like E so much that they keep going. Four, five and six bars are all common, and so are bars that bunch together at one end. Counting them aloud is the simplest fix.
Count "one, two, three" as each bar goes on, then stop. The middle guide line on each row shows where the second bar belongs. Egg and elephant both start with E.
How to use this sheet
If extra bars appear, do not erase them. Count the bars on the model and then on theirs, and let your child spot the difference.
