About this worksheet
Q is an O with a tail. The first numbered dot is at the top, and the pencil travels left and all the way round, exactly as it does for O. The second dot sits inside the circle near the bottom right, where a short slanting tail starts and pokes out through the line.
The tail is small and easy to misplace. It turns up on the left, underneath, or not at all, in which case the page fills with O's.
Q nearly always travels with U in words, which is worth mentioning while you trace. Queen, quilt and quack all begin with Q, and "quack" is the one children remember.
How to use this sheet
Do the O page first if you can. When the circle is closed, ask "where does the tail go?" before your child draws it, and let them point to the model.
