About this worksheet
One stroke, one numbered dot, right at the top. From there the pencil travels to the left and down, round the bottom, and back up the right side to close the circle where it began.
Children draw circles long before they write, usually starting at the bottom and going whichever way feels natural. Starting at the top and traveling left is new, and it matters: lowercase a, d, g and q all begin with the same movement.
Draw a small arrow beside the first few dots, pointing left. Octopus, orange and owl give you three different sounds of O to listen for.
How to use this sheet
Watch the direction rather than the roundness. A slightly wobbly O drawn the right way round is worth more than a perfect one drawn the other way.
