About this worksheet
F is an E that stops early. The model at the top numbers its three strokes: the tall line down, a bar across the top, and a shorter bar halfway down. Nothing sits on the baseline except the foot of the tall stroke.
That empty bottom is what trips children up. Having learned E, many add the third bar out of habit, and the F quietly turns back into an E.
Write an F and an E side by side on scrap paper and ask what is different. Fish, frog and foot are F words worth saying as the rows fill up.
How to use this sheet
If a third bar appears, cover the bottom of an E with a finger and show that F is what is left. Keep the second bar on the middle guide line.
