About this worksheet
M has four strokes and every one of them starts at the top. The model shows two numbered dots at the top left and two at the top right: a tall line down, a slant down to the middle, a second slant down from the other side to meet it, and a last tall line.
It is one of the widest capitals, and children tend to squash it or round it into two humps. The other classic is turning the whole letter upside down, which produces a W.
Count "down, slide, slide, down" so each stroke gets its own beat. Moon, monkey and milk are M words, and humming "mmm" while tracing is silly enough to keep a four year old on the page.
How to use this sheet
Give M more room than you think it needs. If the middle point is not reaching the bottom, mark a small dot on the baseline halfway across for the two slants to aim at.
