About this worksheet
P is a tall line with a single bump at the top. Both strokes start in the same place, so the model shows its two numbered dots together: the line down first, then back to the top for a bump that curves out and comes back in at the middle.
The bump should stop halfway. When it sags down to the baseline the letter turns into a D, and when it lands on the left it becomes a backwards P that looks a lot like a 9.
Ask your child to touch the middle guide line where the bump comes home. Pig, pan and pumpkin start with P, and the "p" sound makes a puff of air you can feel on a hand.
How to use this sheet
Point out the middle guide line before starting: that is where the bump ends. If the bump lands on the wrong side, let your child compare with the model rather than telling them.
